How BETTING Pays Out
UNDERSTANDING THE ODDS
Contrary to what you might think, the odds are determined
by how many people bet on each horse, not by the racetrack.
Essentially, the more favoured a horse is with bettors,
the lower its odds will pay, while the less popular
horses will pay out higher odds. These odds are posted
on the TV monitors throughout the racetrack and are
automatically updated as the bets are entered.
For example, say the odds for horse #2 are 10/1 and he
wins. A $2 bet would pay $20 plus you get back the
$2 you paid for the bet.
HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES
ON A $2 BET:

7/2 |
5/1 |
10/1 |
